REGISTRATION & CHECK-IN

8:00 - 9:00 AM

If you have not already registered online, in-person registration in the basement of Newcomb Hall from 8 to 9 am on the day of the hackathon, April 6th.

BREAKFAST SERVED

Breakfast will be available at 8 am in the Guides Office, located in the basement of Newcomb Hall. We will be serving bagels, coffee, and snacks, brought to you by Bodo's Bagels.

OPENING CEREMONY

9:00 - 9:30 AM

The opening ceremony will be held in the Multicultural Student Center. We will be introducing our theme, special prizes from our sponsors, and our Code of Conduct.

HACKING BEGINS & TEAM FORMATIONS

9:30 AM

On your mark, get set, go! Hacking begins at 9:30 am. If you are looking for a team, join our slack, where we have a channel dedicated to to helping you find team members. Our slack is also a great way to ask general questions, get in touch with the hackathon directors and volunteers, or get help from our mentors.

GITHUB WORKSHOP w/ CAM LLYOD

10:00 - 10:30 AM

Learn the basics of how to use Git with Github and how to manage your project through distributed version control, so you can smoothly combine each member's contributions as you work with your team. This workshop will be held in the LGBTQ Center, located in the basement of Newcomb Hall.

CYBERSECURITY WORKSHOP w/ MARIAH KENNY

10:30 - 11:00 AM

Learn the basics of cybersecurity with Mariah Kenney, a captain on the UVA Cyber Defense team. This workshop is designed to help you learn about the basic concepts and vocabulary of cybersecurity including common vulnerabilites, tools, and techniques used to identify and mitigate risks. It will cover real world examples, show why cybersecurity is important, and how you can get involved. This workshop will be held in the LGBTQ Center, located in the basement of Newcomb Hall.

DATA SCIENCE WORKSHOP w/ AARON GU

11:00 - 11:30 AM

Learn the basics of data science in a workshop led by Aaron Gu, the program lead for Node A at HackCville. This workshop will be held in the LGBTQ Center, located in the basement of Newcomb Hall.

INTRO TO REACT WORKSHOP w/ TAYLOR ROHRICH

11:30 -12:00 PM

Learn the basics of React in a workshop led by Taylor Rohrich, a Program Lead for the Source software development course at HackCville. This workshop will be held in the LGBTQ Center, located in the basement of Newcomb Hall.

LUNCH SERVED

12:00 - 1:00 PM

Lunch will be available at 12 pm in the Guides Office in Newcomb Hall. We will be serving a spread from Root's Catering.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE

5:00 PM

Please submit your projects by 5 pm. If you need help with submitting to our Devpost, please follow this guide. Our directors and volunteers will be coming around to help at around 4:45 pm. You can also message our slack.

DEMONSTRATION FAIR & JUDGING

5:00 - 5:45 PM

After submitting your projects, please bring your projects to the Multicultural Student Center and get ready to demonstrate and talk about your project to the judges, who will be easily identified by their maroon WiCS t-shirts and red-outlined name tags. 

CLOSING CEREMONY

5:45 - 6:00 PM

You did it! Please join us in the Multicultural Student Center for our closing ceremony, where we will be announcing our category winners, briefly demonstrating their projects, and handing out prizes. 

TO-GO DINNER

6:00 PM

We are proud to be able to offer your dinner for the day to-go in the Guides Office. We will be serving pizza and salad from Costco as well as bubble tea from Kung Fu Tea.
